Born in Russia in 1938, Georgi Zernitsky has lived and worked in Latvia and Israel since childhood. His family moved to the Latvian Republic (USSR) in 1945. Zernitsky attended and graduated from Technical University and the Latvian Academy of Arts in the capital city Riga.

The artist since 1993 has had five one-man exhibits in Latvia and his work is privately held in Israel, Venezuela, Germany, Russia and the United States. The artist presently is a citizen of Israel, having emigrated from the USSR in 1990. However, he keeps dual residence and his Riga studio is used nine months of the year.

Sights and sounds of the artist's Jerusalem home greatly influences his work and mix well with his Jewish education and life in Russia and Latvia.
