Ildar Sofeulin was born in 1948 in Bashkortostan, Russia, in the heart of Western Siberia. In this crossroads between Europe and Asia, Sofeulin received his Art Degree, from Ufa Academy of Arts in 1975. He is a member of the Artist Union of Russia.
Exhibitions and one-man shows of the artist have been successful throughout Russia for the last thirty years. Even though during the Soviet times Sofeulin endured persecution for his realistic depictions of life in Russia, the last five years of "perestroika" opened doors to the leading museums of Russia for purchase and holding of his paintings.
The roots of Sofeulin's art go deep into the Russian traditional school of painting started in the 19th century by such masters as Repin and Shishkin.
